Crucifixion Blues

I once loved a woman who was yearning to be whole

I showed her that the truth was in her heart and in her soul

My endless love for her was all that could ever be

Now the pureness of my bond has tied me to this tree

I knew a man who wandered, and he hated all the world

His anger and his passions drove him to turn away from what was real

I showed him without love, all the life that he would miss

When he realized he had strayed, he drove nails through my wrists

I found my heart was bleeding for all the children who were lost

I showed them that they were deceived and they were one with god

I freed them from their parent’s sins and from all those who died

When they felt the power of the truth they shoved a spear into my side

I saw the world was suffering and the pain I could not bear

To stop the aberration, I became a sacred prayer

I sacrificed my flesh for the sick and for the dead

When the light washed over them they used thorns to pierce my head

I found myself alone and faced the horrors of man’s sins

I went into the darkness and drove out evils from within

I saw that the eternal and the soul of man was one

I bestowed upon them radiance and they stood in pools of blood
